Monumental Bloom
This ongoing series reimagines Washington, DC’s monuments as living witnesses rather than distant stone. Each painting lets color, light, and texture push up against these familiar structures, suggesting the ideas, tensions, and everyday lives that surround them. Starting with the Washington Monument and expanding to other memorials across the city, the work explores how our public landmarks hold history while standing in the middle of a changing, imperfect, and still‑unfolding democracy.
