As a way to help veterans recover from and cope with physical and emotional disabilities, US Department of Veterans Affairs medical facilities across the country are turning to a different form of rehabilitative treatment — creative arts. Each year, veterans enrolled at VA health care facilities showcase their talents in local creative arts competitions.

Life in Blue is a mesmerizing group exhibition where this color reigns supreme, with every piece of artwork composed of at least 70% blue.

Life in Blue invites you to consider how a single, dominant color can shape perception and feeling. Witness each artist’s use of blue's infinite variations—from the piercing glow of cerulean to the muted depth of periwinkle—to create narratives of solitude, vastness, longing and peace. This exhibition not only showcases technical mastery but also offers a meditative depiction of the enduring power of blue in the human experience.

Del Ray Alcove Gallery

2 January - 28 February 2026

Del Ray Artisans’ Alcove is a gift shop within the gallery, where members display and sell their work. Unframed 2-D works are available in bins alongside jewelry, fiber art, wood craft, ceramics, and other smaller 3-D items.

The work will be displayed for two months, and as pieces are sold they can be replaced with similar work for no additional fee.
